We have recently introduced changes to the Social Auto-Post functionality in Quintype CMS to provide more flexibility and control over how stories are shared across different social media platforms.

Previously, the auto-posting setup provided a more standardized configuration, where the same social sharing settings were applied without separate customization for each connected platform.

With the new changes, you can now configure platform-specific social post settings. This allows you to customize the content and publishing behaviour separately for each connected social media platform.

This guide explains the new options introduced with Social Auto-Post and how you can use them while publishing or scheduling stories.

What Has Changed?

Previously: Earlier, social auto-posting followed a more common configuration for the connected social platforms. There was limited flexibility to customize the post separately for each platform.

Now: With the latest changes, you can configure social posts individually for each connected platform.

For each platform, you can now customize:

  • Post Type
  • Message
  • Publishing Time

This means you can have different social post configurations for the same story across different platforms.

For example, you can configure a story to be shared as a Link Post on one platform and as an Image Post on another platform, with different messages and publishing times for each.

New Social Post Options

The platform-specific options are available under the Social section.

For each connected social media platform, you can configure the following:

1. Post Type: You can select the type of post you want to publish on the respective platform.

The available options are:

  • Link Post
  • Image Post

Link Post - Select Link Post when you want the social post to share the story as a link.

Image Post - Select Image Post when you want the social post to be shared with an image.
The post type can be configured separately for each connected platform. Once Image Post is selected, you can also view and configure the image that will be used for the post.

2. Message: The Message field allows you to customize the text that will accompany the social post.
You can enter a different message for each platform based on your requirements.

Character limit: 256 characters.

This allows you to tailor the social copy according to the platform instead of using the same message across all platforms. You can also use the AI suggestion feature to generate a suitable social media message. Click the Magic Pen icon available in the Message field to get an AI-generated suggestion.

3. Time: You can choose when the social post should be published.

The available options are:

  • Post with Story Publish
  • Schedule Post

Post with Story Publish : Select this option if you want the social post to be published along with the story when the story is published.

Schedule Post: Select this option if you want the social post to be published at a specific scheduled time.

The publishing option can be configured independently for each platform.

Previous Social Notifications

The Show Previous Social Notifications option allows you to view notifications related to previous social media posting activity.

Click Show Previous Social Notifications to expand the section and view previous notifications.

The notification status indicates whether the auto-post was successful:

  • Green tick — The social media post was successfully published.
  • Red exclamation mark — The social media post could not be published or requires attention.

Click Hide Previous Social Notifications to collapse the section.

How to Configure Platform-Specific Social Auto-Posting

Follow these steps to configure social auto-posting:

  1. Open the story in the Quintype CMS.
  2. Navigate to the Social Posts section.
  3. Toggle on the required social media platform.
  4. Select the required Post Type - Link Post or Image Post.
  5. Enter the required Message for that social media platform.
  6. Under Time, select either Post with Story Publish or Schedule Post.
  7. Repeat the configuration for other connected social media platforms as required.
  8. Review the configurations.
  9. Publish the story or schedule it according to the selected settings.

Each connected social media platform can have its own social post configuration.

Benefits of Platform-Specific Customization

The new functionality provides greater flexibility when managing social media publishing.
You can:

  • Create different messages for different social media platforms.
  • Choose different post types for different platforms.
  • Publish posts along with the story or schedule them separately.
  • Customize social media posts according to individual platform requirements.
