Story Page General Settings: Customising Social Share

The updated Story Share feature now provides a range of customisable settings. Users can modify various elements such as the overall style of social sharing, the text label for the share button, the icon used for sharing, and the specific social media platforms to include.

Previously, social share settings were configured individually for each story type page. Now, these settings are applied globally across all types of story pages.

Social Share Style: Users now have the flexibility to position Social Share buttons in two ways: either anchored (Fixed in Story Option) within the story content or floating on the screen (Stick to Screen) as readers scroll. Furthermore, they can personalise the text that appears on the Share button.

The “Fixed in Story Option” allows user to choose between two layouts: Layout 1 and Layout 2

Share Icon: Users can now select their preferred share icon from a variety of available options.

Social Share Options: This feature allows users to select social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, and more for sharing. The Page Builder team has recently expanded the available social share options, now including Reddit. By default, all other social share options are displayed, except for Reddit. If publishers want the Reddit option to appear, publishers need to manually add it in the Page Builder.

Additionally, publishers now have the option to incorporate Email & Copy Link to their stories.

To add Social Share Options in Page Builder, follow these steps:

1. Click on the "+" icon. A drop-down menu will appear, allowing you to select any available social share option.
2. To add more options, click on the "+" icon again.

This enhances the flexibility and customisation of the social sharing experience for your story pages.

Follow Us: Page Builder now allows publishers to incorporate a "Follow Us" section in their stories, complete with their social media handles. This feature supports various platforms, including Google News, Telegram, Whatsapp, Twitter and more to display on their stories. Publishers have the flexibility to position this "Follow Us" section in three ways:

  1. Top of the story
  2. End of the story
  3. Top & End of the story

Publishers can now customize the "Follow Us" and "Share" labels according to their preferred text, providing more flexibility in personalizing the story page to match their branding or specific content needs.

Important Note: The "Follow Us" social icons will only be functional if the corresponding links are added in Bold CMS. To add these links, follow these steps:

  1. In Bold CMS, go to Settings.
  2. Click on General Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the Social Links section.
  4. Add the links to your social media pages and click on Save.

This feature allows for enhanced visibility and engagement by enabling readers to follow your social media accounts directly from the story.
